This week, we interview Nigel Smith, managing director of TM Robotics, to find out how he thinks the packaging industry is changing as the result of greater use of industrial robots.
Here we make the case for introducing advanced automation technology into the inbound goods process – the first point in a profitable buying system where engineering teams can get involved on a practical level.
The overall picture for the Global manufacturing economy doesn’t appear to be strong at present. The United States has recently hit a twenty seven year low in production while in the UK the sector is expected to be among those areas of the economy worst hit by the recession.
The British electronics manufacturing industry has suffered in the last decade; even before the current global financial problems it was shrinking year on year. However, global electronics production has increased enormously in the same period, as consumer demand has driven industry.
TM Robotics fundamental ethos is to make things easy for engineers incorporating our robots into their manufacturing or testing process. This mirrors the approach Toshiba Machine takes to robot design; they are completely focussed on building machines that are easy to integrate, install and manage.
In May 2006, Frost & Sullivan predicted a bright future for robotics in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in materials handling applications.
The European economy is still in decline, manufacturing may be set to sweat its collective assets for at least the next few months and uncertainty has set in regarding the future employment prospects of many engineers.
Traditionally SCARAs have only been used on end of line packing, in sealing, labelling and packaging, but not in picking up product in primary packaging or food manufacture. However, recent innovations, such as IP65 sealed units and IP65 sealed hoods, mean that the machines can now be used earlier in the process.
The European economy is crumbling, manufacturing is set to sweat its collective assets for at least the next six months and uncertainty has set in regarding the future employment prospects of even the most highly skilled engineer.
To help manufacturers save space, increase output and reduce costs, TM Robotics has launched a suite of fast, versatile and cost effective ceiling mounted robots.
