DH Industries Limited is planning to increase deployment of TM Robotics’ Toshiba Machine robots
DH Industries Limited, the UK division of Pamasol Willi Mäder AG has specialised in the development of equipment and control systems for filling and handling all manner of gas propelled chemicals including those found in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and chemical industries. In particular, equipment for handling Metered Dose Inhalers has been supplied since their introduction in the 1960s.
Pharmaceutical aerosols are often constrained in scope due to registration and patent issues. This has resulted in many different formulations, components and filling techniques which are under constant development.
DH works confidentially with their customers to guide them from concept to clinical trials on the best filling method for their products and then transfer these techniques to full scale production.
Documentation for operation, maintenance, training and validation qualification is produced to enable proficient use of the equipment and satisfy stringent legislative and industry requirements.
The company is planning to increase deployment of TM Robotics’ Toshiba Machine Industrial robots, within or alongside its filling and testing machines. Apart from displacing repetitive handling that would be impossible using human labour, the robots provide the high levels of repeatability and accuracy vital to achieving validation for the process.
The TV800 machine has a working reach of 892mm with a payload of up to 5kg. However, in the DH Industries machine it is the pace and accuracy that are key to the success of the overall process.
When coupled with Toshiba Machine’s TS3100 controller, programming all six axes of the robot is both simple and failsafe.
Typical recent applications have included repeated testing of both batches and 100% inspection. The six-axis robot takes product initially filled and crimped on a 12 station rotary filling line and stored in trays and places them into shot weight testers and back into storage trays. One such system will be demonstrated on the TM Robotics stand at the forthcoming Motek Exhibition on 10-13 October in Stuttgart.
Paul Sullivan said, “quite apart from the Toshiba Machine robot fulfilling the functions we needed, there is no question that the integration of the robot also adds to the aesthetic appeal of the equipment and gives the customer the confidence that advanced technology is being installed.
The TV800 will also be on display at the Motek within the Lanco booth situated in Hall 1, stand number 1611.
